Bangin Beaujolais

blog image
Don't forget Marlow Staff. Thursday at noon. You know where. It was Marisa, in the back room, with the cork screw...

Beaujolais has a tiered classification system. The system allows us to recognize the highest quality of wine coming from the region. It also allows us to recognize when people are trying to be snobby wine elitists. For example, if you here someone say "Eww, Beaujolais?!" you can be almost certain that they don't know what they are talking about. Be kind to them and educate then in the errors of their ways. Gently push them in the right direction. That direction is Cru Beaujolais. And when they leave they will thank you profusely and earnestly for showing them the righteous path. And also they will thank you for letting them in on something cool that other people don't know yet! Just sayin.

Dear Staff,

There are TWO wine meetings this season? Why? Because we are two restaurants with two lists celebrating our duality. Diner's meeting will be held at noon tomorrow, Thursday the 17th of October. Marlow's meeting will be the following week. Same time and place. Which is in the back room at Marlow. 81 Broadway. Use your GPS. See you there!

Sincerely,

The Wine

Dear Store Staff

We are writing to inform, or rather invite you to our first in years store staff meeting. The winds of change are a blowin' and want to make sure we are not wayward. So we will be having a meeting of the minds in the back room at Marlow and Sons. Looking forward to it! 2-2:30pm Wednesday the 26th of March

Love,

The Autumnal Produce

Funniest S**t Overheard at Brunch

Autry as he is training Andy:
"Brunch is a cat. Ya gotta get on that cat and make it purr."
... as he pantomimes stroking a cat.

As you all know we have started a new Rhone wine list. There will be a tasting on Wednesday, February 13th at noon. All wait staff are encouraged to attend and should be toting writing utensils as we will be making note of who is making notes. Also store and kitchen staff are welcome to join in. We will be swilling in the back room at Marlow and Sons. See you soon!

Manager's Log

It felt really great to be back on a night shift after my week of 9 to 5. Marlow had great energy, despite a couple tough customers. I think we definitely made some people unexpectedly happy tonight.

Diner was quiet but I saw some service that was really great. Michael presented a cut of steak to Juliette and Alex who we wondering about the "whole steak thing." They loved their meal and told me that they were going to send us a thank you note tomorrow because it was so great. Michael is totally into the steak discussion and is actively tracking it on the web. Maybe that's just because he got his Internet access on Friday, but I like to think otherwise. Both of our decanters went into service tonight, which I thought was cool.

Note: We had some serious scheduling mishaps last week. I think we can call it all a wash. It does however point to the need for everyone, including bartenders to make a written record of what shifts they are switching, on the schedule bulletin board. Also we need to start talking Tea Pots. We know we need more but lets start paying attention to how we are caring for them. Suggestions are more than welcome.
